Keith Schonert and Greg Kuenstler from TrustBank™ in Olney, IL attended the Community Bankers Association of Illinois (CBAI) Agricultural Lenders' Conference, on
Wednesday, June 9 ,2010. Held at the Crowne Plaza in Springfield, this one-day conference helped
participants develop new skills and tools to meet the credit needs of existing customers and prosper in the
changing environment of agricultural lending. Designed for agricultural lenders, this conference brought
together experts to explore the latest credit analysis that determine credit risks, the weather conditions that
might impact the 2010 growing season, the characteristics of a successful farmer and the impact the various
energy components and policy decisions will have on the farm sector.
Dr. David Kohl, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Agricultural & Applied Economics at
Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, addressed the topics, "Mega Forces in Agriculture" and "Credit Risk Profiling."
Larry Acker, founder and editor of 3F Forecasts, discussed "2010 Growing Seasion: Like Last Year?"
Examining "The Six Hats of a Farmer" and "Energy Update 2010," was Matthew Roberts, Associate
Professor in the Department of Agricultural, Environmental and Development Economics at The Ohio State
University, Columbus.
