IRA Maximum Annual Contribution

Traditional and Roth IRAs
Tax Year Under Age 50 Age 50 and Older
2009 $5,000 $6,000
2010 and later Base contribution $5,000, indexed to inflation in $500 increments. Catch-up amount an additional $1,000 (not indexed).

Simplified Employee Pension (SEP) IRA
The maximum annual employer contribution is 25% of compensation or $49,000, whichever is less.

Coverdell Education Savings Account (ESA)
The annual contribution limit is $2,000 per student.
